School Bus Still Enthused by Students

School buses in the city are still needed by student, especially from underprivileged family. It was known when Head of Jakarta Transportation Department Andri Yansah participated  picking up those students who wait at the edge of road on the first day of school, Monday morning (7/27).

After holding muster along with bus drivers in School Bus Pool in Hek, Kramatjati, East Jakarta Andri Yansah then rushed to get in the bus B 7067 TPA route TMII-Kampung Melayu. He told, of the observation result in field, it turns out school buses are still enthused by many students.

"As the bus is free, they are very enthusiastic to get in. We operate 140 existed buses, there are no additional of new buses. We will also evaluate the existing routes, whether it needs to be added or changed. All of it will be evaluated," he told.

140 School Buses in Jakarta Re-operated

It is mentioned, currently the number of bus drivers is about 116 drivers. As for the armadas is about 140 buses, divided into 2 types. 45 units medium-sized buses  serve 8 zoning routes or feeder (connecting) and 95  big-sized buses  serve 15 routes. "All school buses' movement are observed through GPS (Global Position System)," he explained.

The GPS monitoring room is located in the Technical Management Unit Office of School Bus in Hek area, Kramatjati. With the GPS, it can be known whether the bus really operate transporting students or hiding in somewhere.

The school bus drivers do not need to concern about the subsidized fuel (BBM). Because they have been equipped with subscribed BBM card. The driver just need to show the red-colored card issued by PT Pertamina to the staff of gas station. The staff will fill BBM as the driver request. Then the staff record the license plate of the bus and how much BBM filled. The record is as billing material that proposed to UPT of School Bus every month.

Meanwhile, to increase number of students riding the school bus, his party will hold socialization to some schools. "It should be door to door, visit the schools to socialize these school buses. Thus number of passengers is expected could increase every day," he expressed.

Lidya (17), one of students, claimed she was very glad about the school buses. She hopes the number of armadas could be propagated thus students do not need to wait too long at edge of road," hoped the 3rd grade student of SMK PGRI Halim Perdanakusuma.
